ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to bring 50 percent of all public sector cargo by sea using Gwadar Port in Balochistan.
He gave the directives while chairing an important meeting regarding Chinese investment in Pakistan, in Islamabad on Monday.
The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing about the recent visit of the delegation of Chinese experts to Pakistan.
He was told that a delegation of experts from China visited Pakistan from the 30th of last month to the 6th of this month. The Chinese delegation met representatives of different ministries to increase cooperation in related fields.
During the visit of the delegation, significant progress was made in terms of investment and cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, agriculture, energy, information technology, communication and infrastructure.
The meeting was briefed that Chinese experts will be hired to enhance local exports and eliminate non-trade barriers. Sectoral roadshows will be arranged in different cities of China to increase exports of Pakistani products.
It was apprised that Chinese companies have shown interest in relocating Chinese industries to Pakistan. Pakistani students and research scholars will be trained in China in the field of agriculture for which 572 applications have been received so far.
The Prime Minister directed equal participation to students from all provinces for this training program
