ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Parliament House has been closed down for three days after a short-circuit in the building that houses the Senate and the National Assembly.
According to a statement issued by the NA Secretariate, the short circuit caused damage to some electrical wires.
After the short circuit, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf issued directives to shut all offices of Parliament from Monday to Wednesday.
After the short-circuit, the fire brigade rushed to the scene, and brought the sparks and the fire under control without damage. After the short circuit, the Senate and the National Assembly buildings have plunged into darkness.

Taking cognizance of the situation, the Senate chairman and the NA speaker have ordered immediate precautionary measures, while employees have been directed to work from home.
The Senate session, scheduled to be held on Monday has been postponed till Thursday.
According to statements issued by National Assembly and Senate secretariats, though there was no loss of life, all buildings will be inspected as a precautionary measure.
