ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Shenzhen-based Optimise Integration Group Incorporated (OIG) to promote trade, investment and industrial cooperation.

The letter was signed during the visit of the Authority’s Chairman, Noor ul Haq Baloch, to China.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the two sides to explore opportunities. They would work in business development, bilateral trade and investment, supply chain integration and strategic partnerships, according to a statement issued by the Gwadar Port Authority.

Under the arrangement, GPA and OIG will work together to attract investment, support businesses, and enhance industrial capacity. The desired goals would be achieved through technical training and development of food processing and export-oriented industries around Gwadar Port.

Particular emphasis will be placed on modernising Gwadar’s seafood processing and export value chain. The project would encourage Chinese investment and expand trade between Pakistan and China, the statement said.

As part of the cooperation, OIG will introduce its enterprise services platform in Gwadar to provide counterpart companies with advisory services, business facilitation and market access support for partnerships with Chinese firms.

“This agreement marks an important step towards transforming Gwadar Port into a regional hub for trade, logistics, fisheries and industrial investment under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,” Chairman Noor ul Haq Baloch said.

He added that Gwadar offers significant opportunities for international investors. According to the Chairman, the port authority remains committed to fostering an investor-friendly environment through strategic partnerships with leading global companies.

Under the LOI, the Gwadar Port Authority will provide local coordination, facilitate engagement with relevant institutions and extend access to port infrastructure for future investment projects.

OIG will contribute technical expertise, project consultancy, market intelligence and investment support.

The development, announced during the chairman’s four-day visit to China, reflects deepening economic cooperation between Pakistan and China and growing Chinese investor interest in Gwadar Port, the statement added.

Officials said the collaboration is expected to support investment inflows, technology transfer, industrial development and job creation in the country’s southwestern port city.
