GWADAR, Pakistan: Trade activities at Pakistan’s Gwadar Port continued thriving as another transshipment vessel has anchored at the facility and commenced cargo handling operations in Pakistan.
According to details, the Bangladesh-flagged vessel M/V JAHAN BROTHERS II docked at Gwadar Port on July 18. The ship arrived from Singapore carrying 53,064.660 metric tons of prime steel billets.
The steel billets will be temporarily unloaded and stored at Gwadar Port before being reloaded onto another vessel for onward shipment. This transshipment operation highlights the port’s growing capability to handle international cargo efficiently.
Federal minister highlights port’s strategic importance
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, emphasised that the continuity of trade activities at Gwadar Port despite the current regional maritime situation reflects Pakistan’s robust port capabilities and the growing confidence in its maritime sector.
“The increase in transshipment activities highlights Gwadar Port’s strategic location and its potential as a key alternative trade route in the region,” the minister stated.
He further assured that the government remains committed to strengthening port infrastructure, facilitating international shipping lines, and ensuring the continuity of regional trade.

Gwadar Port chairman reaffirms commitment
Chairman of Gwadar Port, Noorul Haq Baloch, expressed confidence in the port’s operations, stating that the uninterrupted trade and port activities serve as evidence that Gwadar is proving its capabilities as a safe, reliable, and efficient trade hub in the region.
“The successful handling of transshipment cargo is strengthening the confidence of international shipping lines in Gwadar Port,” Baloch said.
He added that the port is solidifying its importance as an alternative trade route and is committed to ensuring seamless regional trade operations.
