KARACHI: Pakistan’s former President Asif Ali Zardari has strongly criticized the Indian government’s refusal to adhere to United Nations (UN) resolutions concerning the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), deeming it an affront to the integrity of the UN.

On this solemn occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir (Kashmir Exploitation Day), the former president highlighted that the people of Indian-Occupied Kashmir are enduring a state of hostage under the Modi regime.

In his statement, he emphasized that the right to self-determination is a fundamental right upheld by the international community, and it must also be respected for the Kashmiri people. He stated that their aspirations and voices cannot be silenced.

Furthermore, Zardari underscored Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vocal stance, branding Modi as a perpetrator of immense suffering, which has garnered global recognition.

Right to Self-Determination Must be Respected as Per UN Resolutions

Zardari urged the rightful granting of self-determination to the Kashmiri people, allowing them to shape their destiny in accordance with their wishes.

Asif Ali Zardari served as Pakistan’s president from 2008 to 2013 and currently holds the position of co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, which governs the Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Sindh province of Pakistan.
