Pakistan’s Foreign Reserves Hit 30-Month High

KARACHI: As of October 11, 2024, Pakistan’s total liquid foreign reserves rose to $16,111.3 million, with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) holding $11,022 million. This marks a 30-month high for SBP reserves, surpassing the $11,425.1 million recorded in March 2022.

The total liquid reserves are also at their highest level in 29 months, compared to $16,406 million in April 2022.

In a statement released on Thursday, the SBP reported an increase of $215 million in its reserves during the week ending October 11, 2024. Meanwhile, net foreign reserves held by commercial banks amounted to $5,088.6 million during the same period.

For context, the total liquid foreign reserves were $16,047 million in the previous week (October 4, 2024), with the SBP holding $10,808 million and commercial banks holding $5,239 million.
