ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cuisine has been recognised as one of the finest in the world, with dishes like chapli kebab, chicken karahi, biryani, halwa poori, and shahi tukray being considered as some of the top-rated foods both nationally and globally.

This cuisine, known as spicy meat patty, is prepared with a combination of minced beef or mutton. The unique taste of chapli kabab comes from spices such as dried coriander and pomegranate seeds, green chillis, and mint. Chapli kabab stands as a favourite throughout Pakistan.  Chapli kababs are traditionally served with yogurt sauce, salads, and naan bread.

Chicken karahi is a poultry dish that is popular in Pakistan. The word karahi in its name refers to a thick and deep cooking-pot similar to a wok in which the dish is prepared. Apart from chicken, the dish is made with red chili powder, cumin, garam masala, ginger, allspice, cardamom, tomatoes, and garlic. It is traditionally served with rice, roti, or naan.

Shahi tukray is a dessert that consists of crispy slices of fried bread drenched in a mixture of hot sugar syrup and a cardamom-and-saffron-scented milk sauce enriched with chopped almonds and pistachios.

This bread pudding is a typical sweet treat worldwide as well. In Pakistan, shahi tukray is traditionally prepared on important occasions such as Eid.

The sweet and milky dessert can be consumed at room temperature or chilled, and it can optionally be adorned with gold or silver leaves.

Tourists visiting Pakistan have the opportunity to taste a wide variety of iconic dishes, each offering a unique taste of the country’s rich culinary heritage. Among the must-try delicacies are Tikka, Seekh Kebabs, Nihari, Zarda (Sweet rice dish), and Biryani.
