Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister Commends Malaysia’s Economic Growth

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Commerce, Industries, and Production Dr. Gohar Ejaz on Tuesday lauded Malaysia’s outstanding economic growth, noting its impressive 6.5% annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth over the past half-century, which led to the establishment of a robust 400 billion dollars economy.

He expressed these views as a chief guest at a ceremony organized to mark Malaysia’s 66th national day and 90th Armed Forces day here in Islamabad, hosted by Malaysian Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Azhar Mazlan.

Among others, the ceremony was attended by diplomats, government officials, and representatives from both sides.

Minister Dr Gohar Ejaz and Ambassador Azhar Mazlan shared insights on the flourishing ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, underlining the immense potential for cooperation and collaboration in different sectors.

Their statements shed light on the impressive progress Malaysia achieved over the years, stressing the importance of strengthening economic and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both leaders underscored their shared commitment and cooperation on international matters.

They expressed their dedication to boosting bilateral trade volume, thereby strengthening economic relations for the mutual benefit of both nations. Both countries look forward to a future of closer collaboration, which will undoubtedly contribute to the mutual prosperity and development of both sides.

The commerce minister said Pakistan should have been the 5th biggest economy but it was the 5th most populous country in the world.

Trade Between Pakistan and Malaysia

Now with a prudent strategy, the minister said Pakistan’s economy had reached 330 billion dollars, highlighting the 1.6 billion dollar trade volume between Pakistan and Malaysia.

The diplomat emphasized the brotherly ties between the two nations and expressed pride in the historical relations that have long connected the two countries.

Pakistan and Malaysia share a common membership in the ASEAN region, providing further opportunities for collaboration and regional engagement.

Ambassador Azhar Mazlan underlined the presence of five thousand Pakistani students studying in Malaysia and highlighted the potential for further collaboration in the education sector.
