Pakistani, Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Cooperation in Multiple Sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of the Russian Federation on Wednesday and exchanged views on bilateral matters and growing cooperation in multiple areas.

According to a press release issued here by the Foreign Office here, Foreign Minister also renewed the invitation to the Russian diplomate to visit Pakistan.

Pakistan, Russian FMs Discuss Black Sea Grain Initiative

Both dignitaries also discussed the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI). Emphasizing the importance of the initiative and its potential impact on the disruption of global food supply chains, causing food shortage, inflation, and food-security-related challenges, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari underscored the need for concerted efforts to find a reasonable solution that would cater to and benefit the globe, especially the developing countries, being under economic strain these days.

He expressed the hope that all parties involved in the BSGI would engage in a result-oriented and constructive dialogue to revive the Initiative. In addition, the Foreign Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for international efforts to restore the deal by addressing the concerns of all stakeholders.

Bilawal informed his Russian counterpart about his discussions on BSGI with the Foreign Ministers of Turkiye and Ukraine, the US Secretary of State, and the EU High Representative.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov shared the perspective of Moscow on the issue. Both the dignitaries agreed to remain in close contact on the matter.
