ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani rupee slightly appreciated against the US dollar on Friday morning, gaining 0.4% in the inter-bank market.
During the early hours of trading, the local currency was being quoted at 283.8, an increase of Re0.12.
On the previous day, the rupee decreased by Re0.53 against the greenback, settling at 283.92 in the inter-bank market.
Pakistani currency remains volatile as the country awaits a $1.1 billion tranche of funding from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The United States on Thursday called on Pakistan to move ahead on stalled reforms sought by the global lender, promising technical help to the cash-strapped South Asian economy.
Pakistan signed a billion bailout package with the IMF in 2019 but less than half has been released as the country fails to fulfil the conditions.
