ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani nation is all set to celebrate the 76th Independence Day on August 14 (Monday) with traditional zeal, jubilation and enthusiasm to highlight the struggle of national heroes and forefathers to acquire a separate homeland.
On Independence Day, special functions, activities, and gatherings would be arranged both in public and private sectors, including seminars, forums, discussions, programmes, national songs, debate competitions, photographic exhibitions, painting, poetry, sports events etc, with a special focus on acknowledging the contribution of leaders of the Pakistan Movement and sacrifices of national heroes.
Meanwhile, private and public educational institutions would arrange different events, including quizzes, speech competitions, functions and other relevant sessions to aware and educate the students about the historical struggle for the creation of Pakistan.
Pakistan diaspora living abroad would also play their part to celebrate Independence Day with the same zeal and fervour and would arrange different cultural events, rallies and flag-hoisting ceremonies to witness their love and loyalty for the country.

The importance of this special day goes beyond the celebration of national pride and patriotism. Celebrating the day interprets and recalls the struggles and sacrifices of forefathers who fought for the independence of Pakistan till their last breath.
Meanwhile, like other parts of the country, the federal capital has already turned into green and white colours with a large number of stalls carrying dresses, flickering flags, badges, pins, toys and other decorative accessories to attract youngsters and enthusiastic children.
In addition, all the major roads and avenues of the federal capital and other parts of the country have been decorated with flags, banners and buntings to present a charming festive look. The major private and public buildings in the different cities would also be illuminated to mark this important day.

The day would begin with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in all provincial capitals, along with special prayers in the mosques for unity, peace and prosperity of the country.
