ISLAMABAD: The top military leadership of Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reiterated the need for continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region, a military statement said on Thursday.
Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom Army General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker called on Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed.
“Both sides reiterated the need for continued collaboration to ensure peace and stability in the region,” it added.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its efforts for regional peace and stability.

Earlier, upon arrival at the army headquarters, the UK CGS laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay homage to the martyrs. He was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
Pakistan and the UK have witnessed high-level visits between their military leaders, in an effort to strengthen defence ties and collaboration.
The two nations share a long-standing relationship founded on deep diplomatic, economic, and security ties. Over the years, their militaries have sustained close cooperation, particularly in counterterrorism efforts and professional military training.
As part of this defence partnership, Pakistani officers regularly attend prestigious British institutions such as the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the Royal College of Defence Studies.
The UK is also home to one of the largest Pakistani diaspora, estimated at over 1.6 million people, who contribute significantly to remittances, business and cultural links.
