Pakistan, UK Enjoy Cordial Parliamentary, Democratic Relations: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that Pakistan and United Kingdom relish cordial relations based upon the shared culture of democracy and parliamentary form of government, adding that these shared ties can be strengthened by enhancing parliament-to-parliament contacts.

The Speaker National Assembly expressed these views during his meeting with the Speaker of House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle in Canberra Australia on the sidelines of the 26th Conference of Speakers & Presiding officers of Commonwealth (CSPOC)

He further said that Parliament of Pakistan has been at the forefront to take the nation on the path of Progress of development and the first “Green Parliament”, in the region to establishment Parliamentary caucus on child rights, first time ever that the doors of parliament were opened for all those who are key pillars of democracy like women, children, minorities and transgender on the occasion of diamond jubilee celebration.

He added that in the recent past Parliament of Pakistan also endorsed a record number of Legislation besides fighting successfully the case for climate justice for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Speaker House of Commons Mr. Lindsay Hoyle expressed harmony with flood-affected people of Pakistan. He further said that enhancing Parliamentary contacts are crucial to learning from parliamentary experiences. He added that innovative parliaments are an essential prerequisite to tackling global challenges.
