ISLAMABAD: In the wake of an Israeli minister’s visit to Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, Pakistan on Wednesday while strongly condemning incident termed it as “provocative” and “insensitive”.
Israel’s new extreme rightwing National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir had visited the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Tuesday. This was Ben-Gvir’s first such visit after becoming a minister.
Following the visit, in fresh comments Ben-Gvir further escalated the fanned tensions.
Israeli minister’s insensitive visit to Al Aqsa Mosque
In response to this statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a note and stressed Al-Aqsa is a holy site revered by Muslims globally.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that “religious sensitivities” of Muslims have been offended as the violation of the sanctity of the Al Aqsa Mosque.
She added that the incident further “inflames” the existing tense situation in the Occupied Palestinians Territories.
