ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed Pakistan’s desire to further expand economic cooperation with the United States, particularly in key sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, information technology, mines and minerals, and energy.
During a meeting with a US Congressional delegation, comprising Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, at the Prime Minister House, he said that economic cooperation remains a central pillar of bilateral ties.
PM invites US companies to invest in Pakistan
He invited more US companies to invest in Pakistan in mutually beneficial ventures across a wide range of sectors, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House.

Ryan Keith Zinke is a Member of the House of Representatives, State of Montana, and Michael James is a Member of the House of Representatives, State of Washington.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated the Congressmen and the American people on the 250th anniversary of US Independence. The Prime Minister also conveyed his warm regards and best wishes for President Donald Trump.
The Prime Minister also recalled former US President Donald Trump’s “bold and decisive” intervention that helped bring an end to hostilities and facilitated the ceasefire between Pakistan and India in May 2025, saying the move helped prevent further loss of life.
US lawmakers appreciate Islamabad’s constructive role regional peace
The two US lawmakers noted that President Trump maintained strong relations with the country’s leadership, which they said had contributed positively to the strengthening of bilateral ties. They also appreciated Islamabad’s constructive and leading role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Both sides agreed to enhance parliamentary engagement by increasing the frequency of visits by US congressional delegations to Pakistan and reciprocal visits by Pakistani parliamentary delegations to the United States.

The Prime Minister underscored that the Pakistani American diaspora, well represented among the visiting US business delegation, constitutes a vital bridge between Pakistan and the United States.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, and U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Ms. Natalie Baker were also present in the meeting.

Earlier, the US congressmen held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace, stability, and dialogue.
“Welcoming the delegation, the DPM/FM highlighted the positive momentum in Pakistan-US relations,” the Foreign Office statement said.

The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in trade, investment, IT, energy, and other areas of mutual interest.
They underscored the importance of sustained parliamentary exchanges in strengthening mutual trust and further reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Islamabad and Washington.
The congressional delegation also acknowledged the significant contributions of the vibrant Pakistani diaspora to the US economy and society, describing it as a vital bridge between the two countries.
They further exchanged views on regional and international developments.
The two lawmakers had also met with Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Monday and discussed avenues for enhancing economic collaboration between the two countries.
