ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Security forces have killed 48 Indian-backed terrorists during multiple intelligence-based operations in the southwestern Balochistan province over the past 72 hours, a military statement said on Friday.
Several intelligence-based operations were conducted in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi in the last 24 hours, during which 36 terrorists of Fitna-ul-Hindustan and Fitna-ul-Khawarij were killed, the military’s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said.
Fitna al-Khawarij is the term used by the state to refer to terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Fitna al-Hindustan is used for terrorist organisations operating in Balochistan.
Six Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed during a fierce exchange of fire in Mastung. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also destroyed during the operation.
In another operation in the Shaban area of Quetta, security forces traced four hideouts of Fitna-ul-Khawarij. An exchange of fire at the hideouts resulted in the killing of 26 terrorists, ISPR said.

Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Kalat. During the conduct of the operation, security forces raided a terrorist hideout and killed two Indian sponsored terrorists.
In Sibi’s Bhag area, an attempted terrorist attack on a police station was foiled. Two Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire, according to ISPR.
“In the last forty-eight to seventy-two hours, 48 terrorists belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan & Fitna al Khwarij have been neutralised across Balochistan,” ISPR said.
Pakistan conducts 44,161 anti-terrorism operations in 2026
Across the country, 44,161 operations against terrorism have been conducted in 2026, resulting in the killing of 1,188 terrorists, which is an unprecedented success in the fight against terrorism, ISPR said.
Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists found in the area.
According to the statement, the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace.

Security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, ISPR said.
Surge in terror activities
Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Taliban regime to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil, particularly those linked to the banned TTP terrorist network. However, the Taliban regime failed to take any action against the terrorist sanctuaries on Afghan soil.
Due to the surge in terrorist attacks, Pakistan has intensified counterterrorism operations to eliminate the menace.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies’ (PICSS) monthly security assessment, released on July 31, Balochistan witnessed the sharpest deterioration in the country’s security situation last month.
On July 9, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the country’s civil and military leadership had taken a “mutual and singular decision” to eliminate terrorism following several major militant attacks in Balochistan.
