ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces on Wednesday foiled an attempt by a group of terrorists to infiltrate the country through the Ghulam Khan sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 15 terrorists in an intelligence-based operation.
Acting on credible intelligence, security forces targeted a terrorist formation attempting to infiltrate Pakistan through the Ghulam Khan sector along the Pak-Afghan border, security officials said.
The timely operation successfully foiled the terrorists’ infiltration attempt, resulting in the elimination of 15 terrorists, security officials said.
Terrorists remain highly dependent on Afghan soil for safe havens, recruitment, training, logistical assistance, operational support and infiltration into Pakistan.
Their repeated attempts to cross the Pak-Afghan border into Pakistan demonstrate their continued reliance on sanctuaries and support networks in Afghanistan, security officials said.
The recent infiltration attempt by terrorists through the Ghulam Khan sector is another clear example of this mechanism.
Acting on timely intelligence, Pakistan’s security forces conducted a precise intelligence-based operation and eliminated 15 infiltrating Khawarij terrorists, successfully foiling their planned operation, security officials said.
The operation demonstrates Pakistan’s resolve and capability to neutralise the terrorist threat despite external backing and safe havens available to these elements, security analysts said.
Pakistan will continue taking decisive action against terrorists and will not allow bloodthirsty Khawarij terrorists to threaten its people or territory, security officials said.

Recent reports have indicated that the Taliban regime is harbouring designated terrorists in the diplomatic area of Kabul, particularly in the area of Wazir Akbar Khan.
Last week, US President Donald Trump said that the Taliban regime has released thousands of terrorists and violent criminals from Bagram prison.

Analysts and security officials have pointed out that the major terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist group and others are operating from locations that are considered too sensitive for the international community to target, and this has given rise to the possibility of a new security threat in the region.
Multiple reports confirm that Afghanistan has continued to serve as a safe haven for over 20 terrorist groups.
The Central Asian countries, as well as Russia and China, have continued to urge the Taliban regime to take action against the terrorist groups on Afghan soil, citing threats to regional security.
Security analysts warn that Afghanistan’s role as a safe haven for multiple terrorist groups could destabilise the region, impacting Pakistan and Central Asia.
