ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Embassy in Cambodia has successfully arranged the early repatriation of 54 Pakistani nationals who were detained in Siem Reap province, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Tuesday.
These individuals were arrested following a raid on a scamming compound and will be brought back to the country as soon as flight arrangements are finalised, the FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in a statement.
“The Pakistan Embassy in Cambodia has actively pursued the matter with the Cambodian Government,” it said.

In line with directives from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to extend full support to overseas Pakistanis, the embassy took steps to assist the affected individuals.
Embassy officials are also working to ensure the well-being of the detainees, who are expected to return to Pakistan once travel arrangements are finalised.
“As a goodwill gesture from the Cambodian authorities, the detainees will be repatriated without any legal proceedings against them under the “Law on Combating Online Scams”, which came into effect on 7 April 2026, imposing significant prison sentences and hefty fines,” according to the statement.
