Pakistan, Russia Reaffirm Commitment to Stability, Peace in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to continue practical engagement with the Afghan authorities to ensure peace and stability in the war-torn country.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, the two sides also pledged for joint efforts to solve issues related to regional security.

The statement was released after a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov in Islamabad.

Commitment for regional stability

Both leaders agreed to remain actively engaged to promote stability, peace and economic development in the region for the well-being of the people.

Khar said that Afghanistan with its location as a connecting point between South Asia and Central Asia is central to achieving socio-economic development and regional connectivity.

She also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working with other countries in the region to achieve the goals.
