ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s information ministry on Wednesday rejected claims by the Afghan Taliban interim regime and “Indian RAW mouthpieces” regarding the removal of barbed wire along the Pakistan-Afghanistan international border, terming them “fabricated and devoid of facts”.
The ministry in a post on X said the Pakistan-Afghan border spans over 2,640 kilometres of rugged landscape, which is guarded only by Pakistan, while the Taliban interim regime “works hand in glove with terrorists, smugglers, and criminal mafia to infiltrate”.
“Pak-Afghan border fence is fully intact and in fact all such attempts are given heavy and disproportionate response there and then,” the ministry maintained.
“The complex dynamics of this border has already been explained multiple times by concerned security officials,” it said.

The ministry’s post also included a screenshot from an X account called Afghanistan Defence, which quoted Afghan forces saying that “operations to completely remove the barbed wire along the Durand Line are ongoing and progressing rapidly.”
The post was accompanied by video clips showing men attempting to cut through the barbed wire along what appeared to be a border fence.
It said all the clips being uploaded by the Taliban regime outlets are created content, dated, and in line with terrorists and Taliban propaganda tactics of appearing for a few minutes to record content and then running away.
“Such content creation only confirms not only the cowardly nature of these Kharjis and Taliban but also how they live in a make-believe world of propaganda and deceit,” it noted
“The Pak-Afghan border fence is fully intact, and in fact, all such attempts [to dismantle it] are given a heavy and disproportionate response there and then,” it added.
It further said that “frustrated by the destruction of more than 250 border posts, along with the capture of dozens of posts by Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies in precise and targeted operations under the large-scale counter-terrorism Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, the Afghan Taliban regime has resorted to a familiar litany of lies to satisfy their domestic audience”.
The ministry also recalled previous fabricated and false claims by the Afghan Taliban interim regime.
“Afghan Taliban Regime and their Indian masters are internationally known for frivolous claims; ranging from capture of a Pakistani tank, to supposed successful drone strikes, and even capture of a Pakistani pilot in shalwar qameez exposing their absolute lack of credibility. Any claims by Afghan Taliban or their media cannot be trusted,” the ministry stated.
