ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned the budget session of the parliament in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The Senate will meet at 4:00 pm, while the National Assembly session will be held at 5:00 pm at the parliament house, said a notification issued by the parliament secretariat on Tuesday.

The notification stated that the President has summoned the session in exercise of the powers conferred under Clause 1 of Article 54 of the Constitution.
Earlier, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the budget for the next fiscal year (FY2026-27) would likely be presented in the parliament on June 12 (Friday).
In a post on X, he added that summaries to convene budget sessions in the National Assembly and Senate on June 10 (Wednesday) had been sent to the presidency for approval.
The sessions for the NA and the Senate have been advised to be summoned at 5pm and 4pm, respectively, Chaudhry added.

Meanwhile, the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) has been rescheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday). “It is to inform that the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) will be held on Wednesday, 10th June at 1130 hours in the Prime Minister’s House, Islamabad.
The Prime Minister will chair the meeting,” said a meeting notice issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday.
NEC is headed by the Prime Minister and comprises the four chief ministers and four federal ministers. The forum will finalise the national investment plan for 2026-27, the provisional GDP growth figures for the outgoing fiscal year, FY2025-26, and finalise the figures for the previous fiscal year (FY24-25).
The NEC will also review the performance reports of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) and the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for the ongoing fiscal year 2025-26.
