ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday approved the recommendation of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and dismissed Supreme Court (SC) Justice (retd) Mazahar Ali Naqvi from services.

Following the President’s approval, the Ministry of Law has issued a dismissal notification for the former Supreme Court judge, Mazahir Ali Naqvi, who was found guilty of misconduct by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) earlier this month. The SJC’s decision is based on its finding of misconduct by Justice Naqvi, following a thorough investigation into his actions that were found to be inconsistent with judicial standards.

In light of this verdict, the SJC has recommended the dismissal of Justice Mazahir Naqvi from his position, demonstrating the Council’s dedication to upholding justice and preserving the judiciary’s integrity.

The Ministry also withdrew a previous resignation notification issued by the division for Justice (retd) Naqvi.

In a surprising move in January, Justice (retd) Naqvi had resigned from his position amid allegations of misconduct. However, within a day of his resignation, fellow judge Justice (retd) Ijazul Ahsan also stepped down, leading to speculations regarding their sudden departures.
