ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Tuesday night, condemning Israeli air strikes on Doha as a “blatant violation” of Qatari sovereignty and expressing Pakistan’s solidarity with the Gulf state in the wake of the attack.
“He conveyed his deepest sympathies and expressed solidarity with His Highness the Amir, the Qatari Royal Family, as well as with the people of Qatar,” a PM House statement said after both the leaders held a telephonic conversation.
The Prime Minister termed Israel’s attack as a dastardly act that showed the mindset of its leaders, who were willing to go to any length in the blind pursuit of their nefarious goals.
He described the Israeli aggression as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, calling it a dangerously provocative act that could threaten regional peace and stability.
The Prime Minister assured Amir that Pakistan stands firmly with the State of Qatar against Israel’s aggression and emphasised the need for unity within the Ummah during this critical time.
In response, the Amir expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s telephone call and sincere solidarity with the people of Qatar during this challenging period. He said he was deeply moved by the thoughtful gesture, which reflects the longstanding and strong brotherly ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
Both leaders agreed to remain in contact in the interest of regional peace and security.
Earlier, Pakistan strongly condemned the “Israeli aggression” against Qatar, calling the move “highly provocative and a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty”.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said the “reckless action” is an open violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the established norms governing interstate relations.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in a post on X, said: On behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan as well as on my own behalf, I strongly condemn the unlawful and heinous bombing in Doha by Israeli forces, targeting a residential area, and endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
“Our deepest sympathies and solidarity are with the Amir, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari Royal Family, as well as the people of Qatar at this difficult time,” he said.
