ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has expressed Pakistan’s strong interest in enhancing railway capacity through modern technology, in line with the National Agenda for Reforms.
He was speaking to a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Mr. Chen Chen, Director of the Transport Sector Group, in Islamabad.
The discussion focused on ADB’s ongoing support for future development plans, Pakistan’s transport sector and the challenges it faces.
The Minister stressed the revival and review of several major projects related to railway, maritime infrastructure projects and transport that had been approved in 2018, but stalled under the previous government.
Ahsan Iqbal also recommended that the ADB establish a knowledge-sharing system to enable nations across the world to access and learn from its models and experiences.
Both sides engaged in detailed talks about the Multi-Tranche Financing Facility for road construction projects and expressed their commitment to cooperate on future initiatives in this sector.
