ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that the National Examination Board (NEB) will conduct its upcoming examination session on May 16, 2026, offering a critical opportunity for Pakistani students affected by conflict abroad to continue their medical education.
According to the council, the examination will take place in Rawalpindi, with an online registration window opening from April 9 and closing on April 24. Authorities have urged all eligible candidates to complete their applications within the stipulated timeframe once the portal becomes active.
The NEB examination, administered twice annually by the PMDC, is designed to evaluate the academic knowledge, clinical competence, and professional readiness of students who have partially completed their medical or dental studies overseas and are seeking admission or transfer to institutions within Pakistan. The test will be computer-based and comprised of multiple-choice questions.
Eligibility criteria specify that Pakistani nationals enrolled in foreign medical or dental colleges must have completed at least two years of study and progressed to the third year to sit the examination. Successful candidates will be considered for placement in Pakistani institutions for the subsequent academic cycle.
In a notable development, the council has extended this opportunity to students currently studying in Iran, many of whom have faced disruptions due to ongoing regional tensions. These candidates have been advised to fulfil all required formalities and ensure timely registration.
The PMDC also issued a broader advisory to students and parents contemplating medical education abroad, urging them to carefully weigh safety considerations alongside academic prospects. The council stressed that student welfare remains a top priority amid evolving geopolitical uncertainties.
Further details regarding the examination schedule, syllabus, and test centre arrangements are available through official PMDC channels. Candidates are encouraged to stay informed of any updates or procedural changes.
