ISLAMABAD: The newly commissioned Pakistan Navy Ship Tippu Sultan visited Colombo, Sri Lanka to consolidating bilateral relations, increasing interoperability and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two countries’ navies.
Upon arrival at the port of Colombo, the Tippu Sultan ship was very warmly welcomed by Sri Lankan Navy officials and Pakistan High Commission, a Pakistan Navy press release said on Thursday.
During the visit, Commanding Officer of the PNS TIPPU SULTAN held met with Sri Lankan naval leadership and discussed, Navy-to-Navy collaboration, matters of mutual interest, and Pakistan Navy’s valuable contribution towards regional peace and maritime security.
The Commanding Officer conveyed best wishes from Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi to the Sri Lankan people in general and the navy in particular. Key civil and military leadership, including the Sri Lankan Parliament’s speaker, and foreign envoys stationed in Sri Lanka also visited PNS TIPU SULTAN.
The PN ship was also opened for visitors and a large number of Pakistani diaspora, local citizens and Sri Lanka Navy personnel visited it.

Later, PNS TIPPU SULTAN took part in Passage Exercise with Sri Lankan Navy Ship.
The trip of PNS TIPPU SULTAN to Sri Lanka contributed considerably towards promoting naval collaboration between the two friendly nations, strengthening bilateral ties and the existing connection of friendship with Sri Lanka.
