ISLAMABAD: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has acknowledged Iran’s peace efforts in the recent Pakistan-India conflict.
“Pakistan is grateful to the international community, and we are especially grateful to brotherly countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran,” General Chaudhry said in an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
He warned that certain regional forces, aided by external powers, are attempting to sow misunderstandings and confusion among friendly nations. “The elements seek to create rifts between brotherly countries,” he noted.
The ISPR chief emphasised that Iran and Pakistan enjoy deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties and have consistently stood by one another in times of challenge.
He also referred to the recent visit of senior Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi to Islamabad. During his stay, Araghchi held meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.
Following his engagements in Pakistan, he travelled to New Delhi, where he reiterated his call for restraint.
Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that Iran and Pakistan have very historical and brotherly relations and have always stood by each other in all challenges and trials.
“Pakistan is eager to ensure that the borders between the two countries remain boundaries of peace and friendship, and we look forward to this,” he said.
