ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kuwait have agreed to further institutionalise bilateral cooperation through enhanced institutional linkages and regular high-level exchanges.
This understanding was reached during delegation-level talks led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Islamabad on Wednesday, a Foreign Office statement said.
“The two sides reviewed the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Kuwait bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, energy, labour, agriculture, information technology, health, mining and minerals, defence, and the broader economic partnership,” it said.

The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination and cooperation at multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister thanked the government and people of Pakistan for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support to Kuwait during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pakistan desires to further strengthen mutually beneficial partnership
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister reaffirmed the country’s commitment to its longstanding brotherly ties with Kuwait, highlighting Islamabad’s desire to further strengthen and expand the mutually beneficial partnership across a wide range of sectors.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, including the situation in the Middle East and Palestine. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister also appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Pakistan, Kuwait discuss regional developments
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister held a bilateral meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed regional developments.
The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of Pakistan–Kuwait bilateral relations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly partnership, the Foreign Office said.
They also held in-depth discussions on regional and international developments, with particular focus on the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday evening for talks on bilateral ties and regional developments.
Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister was received by Zahid Hussain, Additional Secretary (Middle East), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Foreign Office statement said.
The visit is being carried out at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
“During the visit, the two sides will hold talks covering the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest,” the statement said.
The visit reflects the enduring fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, underpinned by shared history, mutual trust and strong cooperation across multiple sectors.

In an earlier statement, the Foreign Office said that during the visit, Foreign Minister Al-Sabah will hold talks with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.
“The two sides will review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments of mutual interest, the statement said.
Kuwait approves defence cooperation pact with Pakistan
In a significant step towards deepening bilateral strategic ties, Kuwait has formally approved a defence cooperation agreement with Pakistan, paving the way for expanded collaboration in military training, intelligence sharing, defence technology, logistics and broader armed forces cooperation.
The approval was granted through a decree-law published in the latest edition of Kuwait’s official gazette, with the Deputy Prime Minister formally endorsing the defence cooperation agreement signed by the two countries in Kuwait on June 11, 2023.
The pact establishes a comprehensive framework to strengthen defence relations and promote cooperation in military training, education and other security-related fields in accordance with the domestic laws of both countries and their respective international obligations.
Under the agreement, Pakistan and Kuwait will expand cooperation across a wide range of areas, including military training and education, logistical support, the exchange of military personnel, technical experts and specialists, scientific and technological collaboration, military intelligence, and other mutually agreed fields of defence cooperation.
