ISLAMABAD: India and Pakistan have exchanged lists of prisoners, nuclear installations, and strategic facilities through diplomatic channels in pursuance of agreements signed between both neighbouring countries.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement on Sunday,
“The Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks on Nuclear Facilities and Installations between Bharat and Pakistan was signed on December 31, 1988, and approved on January 27, 1991.
Pakistan-India agreement
The pact, among other things, provides that both the neighbouring countries shall inform each other of their nuclear facilities and installations, falling within its definition, on January 1 every year.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the list of nuclear facilities and installations in Pakistan was officially handed over to the Bharat High Commission’s representative in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan.
Simultaneously, the Indian Foreign Ministry also handed over the list of India’s nuclear facilities and installations to the Pakistan High Commission’s representative in New Delhi, the capital city of Bharat.
The practice of exchanging the prisoners and nuclear installations lists has continued since January 1, 1992.
