BEIJING: Hussain Haider, Pakistan’s Consul General in Shanghai, said on Wednesday that Pakistan actively explored investment and trade cooperation opportunities with Chinese enterprises and appreciated the direct investment.
During his presentation at Pakistan International Promotion Conference in Shanghai, he spoke about Pakistan’s foreign trade, preferential investment policies, products, top exports, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), priority sectors for investment, and foreign investment incentives, among other topics.
He said that Pakistan, located at a crucial juncture of the Belt and Road, had a unique geographical location and numerous natural resources.
The diplomat said that with its great market potential, agricultural advantages, and youthful workforce, Pakistan holds considerable development potential in the fields of economy, tourism, Special Economic Zones, and culture, thus attracting Chinese tourists and investment.
He said that Shanghai-based firms that have invested in Pakistan have achieved considerable success and serve as excellent Pak-China collaboration cases. He voiced hopes for further investments from the Shanghai economic zone in the post-Covid-19 era.
Shanghai Blue Sky Economic City Development Co., Ltd chairman Jiawen Pei acknowledged the presence of twenty-thousand enterprises in the city park, several of which align with Pakistan’s encouraged investment direction.
Pakistan National Pavilion
He appreciated the establishment of the Pakistan National Pavilion (PNP) within the economic city to expand the sales of high-standard Pakistani products through e-commerce and offline display.
The Shanghai Blue Sky Economic City (SBSEC) is an economic development zone authorized by the Jiading District government in Shanghai. Established in 1994, it is situated in Nanxiang, a picturesque town with a rich cultural and historical heritage and a consolidated presence in the gaming industry.
