Pakistan Endorses UN Sanctions on Abdul Rehman Makki

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has endorsed the decision of the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) Sanctions Committee to place restrictions on Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) leader Abdul Rehman Makki.

In compliance with the UNSC’s decision, the foreign ministry has made Abdul Rehman Makki subject to assets freeze, a travel ban, a ban on collecting funds, and an arms embargo. The foreign ministry issued a notification in this regard on January 17.

Pakistan freezes Abdul Rehman Makki’s assets

According to the notification, the Jamaatud Dawa leader Abdul Rehman Makki’s assets are frozen with immediate effect. The assets include all properties, resources, and funds which belong to Jamaatud Dawa. The notification further states that Makki would not travel abroad nor could he involves in the arms trade.

Abdul Rehman Makki was made subject to sanctions under 23 different resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
