ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have welcomed the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Iran and the US, expressing hope that its effective implementation would contribute to lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
The views were expressed during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the Regional 4 (R4) meeting in Cairo, a Foreign Office statement said on Sunday.
The two ministers reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction at the positive momentum in Pakistan-Egypt ties.
“They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in political, economic, defence, health & pharmaceutical, and multilateral spheres, and agreed to reinvigorate existing bilateral mechanisms to further enhance bilateral collaboration,” the Foreign Office said.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East.
“They welcomed the recently reached peace agreement and expressed hope that its effective implementation would contribute to lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region,” the statement said.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Pakistan and Egypt to further deepen their close and brotherly relations.
Egyptian President appreciates Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace
Earlier, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and responsible role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation, and diplomatic engagement in the region.
He also commended the contributions of the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, and the Chief of Army Staff towards efforts aimed at fostering regional peace and stability, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday.

“President El-Sisi expressed the hope that ongoing efforts and next phase of negotiations would contribute to lasting peace, security, and prosperity across the wider region,” it said.
He said this during a joint call by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Foreign Minister of Turkiye Hakan Fidan, and Foreign Minister of Egypt Dr. Badr Abdelatty in Cairo.
The discussions also covered the consultations held among the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye under the R4 framework. The leaders highlighted the growing importance of the R4 as a valuable mechanism for structured dialogue, strategic coordination, and policy consultation on issues of mutual interest.
