ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani briefed the upper house of the Parliament on Friday on Pakistan’s active engagement in ending the Gaza crisis and working towards a resolution of the Palestine issue.

In response to a notice raised by Senator Mushtaq Ahmed regarding the Israeli occupation forces’ siege of Gaza and the ensuing humanitarian crisis, Minister Jilani highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing involvement in addressing the Palestine issue, particularly in the past month and a half.

Detailing Pakistan’s contributions, he mentioned the co-sponsorship with Saudi Arabia of the OIC extraordinary session held in Jeddah. The minister highlighted Pakistan’s pivotal role in the unanimous document created by eight foreign ministers during the OIC summit.

“We played a crucial role in the passage of the resolution presented by Jordan at the United Nations, garnering support from numerous countries,” Minister Jilani stated, acknowledging global appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts.

Regarding Israel’s actions, he said that there is no doubt that Israel has committed genocide against the innocent people of Palestine. He also narrated the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Minister Jilani called for international accountability for Israel’s war crimes, urging the global community to focus on the Palestine issue. He expressed hope that OIC countries’ pressure on Israel would yield positive outcomes.

The minister disclosed ongoing efforts, stating, “Pakistan is in contact with Egyptian and Jordanian authorities to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians. Unfortunately, Israel is hindering aid delivery to Gaza.”

Pakistan’s Offers of Medical Aid for Gaza Victims Rejected

He revealed Pakistan’s offers of medical assistance, including airlifting the injured to Pakistan and establishing a hospital in Gaza, which were not granted permission by Israel.

Addressing the reported casualties, he shared, “Around 15,000 people have been killed, and 40,000 injured by Israeli forces. UN workers and hospital staff have also fallen victim to the violence.”

During a meeting in Saudi Arabia, the President of Palestine highlighted the extensive destruction caused by the occupying forces. The minister expressed concern for the orphaned children and demanded an immediate cessation of violence by Israel.
