LAHORE, Pakistan: Pakistan’s 15-member national cricket squad departed from Lahore on Monday, embarking on their journey to Sri Lanka to commence their campaign in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The team, led by captain Salman Ali Agha, features a blend of experienced stalwarts and emerging talent.

The squad includes prominent names such as former ca

ptain Babar Azam, pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi, all-rounders Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz, and explosive batters Sahibzada Farhan, Fakhar Zaman and Usman Khan.

Squad composition and initial schedule

The complete contingent comprises Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Muhammad Nafi, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq.

Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, the players will be given a two-day rest period to recuperate from travel fatigue and acclimatise to local conditions.

This break is part of the management’s strategy to ensure the squad is fresh for the rigorous schedule ahead.

Warm-up match and tournament timeline

As part of their final preparations, the Men in Green are scheduled to play a warm-up match against Ireland on February 4.

This practice game will serve as a crucial opportunity for the team to fine-tune their combinations and gain match readiness.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to be held from February 7 to March 8.

The tournament matches will be hosted across various venues in India and Sri Lanka, with Pakistan aiming to make a strong start in the group stages.
