LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced a 15-member men’s squad for the Asian Games 2026, with experienced batter Sahibzada Farhan appointed captain for the tournament in Japan.
The cricket competition will be held in Aichi-Nagoya from September 17 to October 3, while the men’s T20 event is scheduled to begin on September 24. The medal matches will take place on October 3.

Farhan, who has represented Pakistan in 46 T20 Internationals, will lead a squad that combines experienced players with emerging talent. Abdul Samad has been named vice-captain after making five appearances for the national side in the shortest format.
The squad includes several promising youngsters, with fast bowler Akif Javed, batter Maaz Sadaqat, pacer Ali Raza and Saad Masood still awaiting their Pakistan T20I debuts.
Fourteen of the selected players are also part of the National Cricket Academy’s White-Ball Camp, which is set to begin in Lahore on June 15 as preparations intensify for upcoming international assignments.
The men’s cricket event at the Asian Games will feature 10 teams. Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and hosts Japan qualified automatically, while Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Oman secured their places through the qualification process.
