ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday expressed deep concern over the Houthi drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Taif Governorate.
In a post on X, Deputy PM Dar said that the Houthi drone attack claimed the life of a Yemeni resident and injured a Saudi citizen and a Pakistani national, who is reportedly in critical condition.
“Pakistan strongly condemns this provocation, which endangered innocent lives and threatens regional peace and security,” Dar said.
“We stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people,” Ishaq Dar said.

The Houthi drone attacks on Saudi Arabia have drawn widespread condemnation from countries across the region and beyond, with governments expressing solidarity with the Kingdom and reaffirming their support for its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
Threat to regional peace
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan strongly condemned Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, warning that continued assaults pose a threat to regional peace and stability and could have serious implications for the global economy and energy security.
Addressing a weekly briefing, he said Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder unwaveringly with the brotherly kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defence of its sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as the security and sanctity of Haramain Sharifain.
“We strongly condemn attacks on holy sites,” Khan said, praising the swift and heroic actions of the Saudi armed forces in foiling the attack.
The FO spokesperson further said that Islamabad is closely and seriously monitoring the situation in the Middle East, while condemning a heinous Houthi attack that had hurt the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
Pakistan PM Sharif denounces Houthi attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement on Wednesday, also condemned in the “strongest possible terms” an attempted drone attack near the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, expressing Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
The prime minister said the attempted attack had deeply saddened and perturbed the people of Pakistan, while praising the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their swift response.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the dastardly and heinous attempted drone attack against the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.
“The people of Pakistan are saddened and perturbed by this outrageous act. There can be no words strong enough to capture the depth of anguish and sorrow felt by us at this reprehensible and unforgivable act.”
Saudi forces praised
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for what he described as their vigilance, courage and professionalism in responding to the attempted attack.
“We salute the extraordinary vigilance, courage, and professionalism of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their swift and heroic action,” he said.
Saudi authorities have said the drone was intercepted and destroyed before it entered the prohibited airspace around the Holy City of Makkah.
