Pakistan–China Fashion Show Debuts at Great Wall of China

BEIJING: The Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, in collaboration with the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), organised the first-ever Pakistan–China Fashion Show at the Great Wall of China on Sunday, marking a vibrant fusion of traditional and contemporary designs that celebrated the enduring Silk Road spirit and deepening cultural ties between the two nations.

At the fashion show, Pakistani designers, Maheen Khan, Moazzam Abbasi, Ayesha Tariq, Rizwaullah, and Zain Hashmi presented their collections that were designed specifically for a fusion between Pakistani and Chinese fashion.

China-based Pakistani designer Aqeel Chaudhary also presented his jewellery collection. The event also featured collections by the famous Chinese designer, Ms. Liang Suyun. Mr. Adnan Ansari, from Riwayat, curated the Show.

Senior Chinese officials, media, businessmen, and members of the diplomatic corps attended the event, according to a press release issued by Pakistan’s embassy in Beijing.

​Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi said that the majestic Badaling Great Wall provided a befitting venue to celebrate the living spirit of the Silk Road connection, now manifested as a modern bridge of fabric, art and friendship.

He highlighted the event’s special significance, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the first Pakistani dignitary’s visit to the Great Wall.

Ambassador Hashmi emphasised that the showcase was driven by fusion, commercial sense, and the strength of Pakistani fashion, demonstrating the natural synergy between Pakistani creativity and the Chinese market, thereby building new commercial bridges for a shared future.

​Long Yuxiang, Chairman of the China International Cultural Communication Center, emphasised that the fashion show represented not only a grand cultural exchange event but also a vivid reflection of the China-Pakistan All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

He highlighted that both countries shared a profound historical heritage and a common pursuit for better lives through fashion aesthetics.

Long expressed commitment to further explore the contemporary value of traditional aesthetics with Pakistani partners, create more characteristic fashion works, and inject new vitality into the Pakistan-China fashion aesthetics.

​Badaling is the most renowned section of the Great Wall. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the first visit of a Pakistani dignitary to the Badaling Great Wall.
