ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to strengthen defence cooperation, with a focus on expanding joint training, military exercises, technological collaboration and defence industrial partnership, the military’s media wing said in a statement on Thursday.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and Major General Muraveiko Pavel Nikolayevich, Chief of the General Staff of Belarus Armed Forces and First Deputy Defence Minister, at the Air Headquarters, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, defence cooperation and prospects for enhanced military collaboration were discussed.
The Chief of the Air Staff reaffirmed Pakistan Air Force’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral defence ties.
“The visiting dignitary appreciated the remarkable progress achieved by Pakistan Air Force, lauding operational preparedness, technological advancements and self-reliance initiatives,” ISPR said.
He expressed Belarus’ commitment to further expanding bilateral defence cooperation.
The meeting reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Belarus to further strengthening defence cooperation and advancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest, it said.

The two countries have been working to expand cooperation through high-level exchanges, joint training programmes, military exercises, technological cooperation and defence industry partnerships.
Recent engagements between defence officials from both sides reflect their efforts to enhance operational coordination, share expertise and explore new avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Both countries have expressed their desire to further deepen defence relations and promote greater cooperation between their armed forces.
