NAGOYA, Japan: Pakistan continued their strong campaign in the Asian Games 2026 men’s hockey competition with a convincing 3-0 victory over China in their Pool B clash at Kawasaki Juko Stadium on Thursday.
Captain Abubakar Mahmood, Sufyan Khan and Hannan Shahid scored one goal each as Pakistan secured their third consecutive win without conceding a goal.

The opening quarter remained goalless, with both sides unable to convert their opportunities.
Pakistan finally broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when skipper Mahmood converted a penalty corner. Sufyan doubled the lead five minutes later, also finding the net from a penalty corner.

Shahid adds third before halftime
Pakistan continued to dominate and extended their advantage in the 28th minute when Shahid scored a field goal to make it 3-0.
The three-goal burst in the second quarter gave Pakistan a commanding advantage at halftime.

China struggled to find a response after the interval and failed to score throughout the match. Pakistan also had to play part of the game with Zikriya Hayat receiving a green card, but the Green Shirts maintained their defensive discipline to preserve the clean sheet.

Pakistan remain second in Pool B
The victory gives Pakistan nine points from three matches, keeping them second in Pool B with a positive goal difference of 16.
Malaysia also have nine points and lead the group on goal difference, with a margin of 24.
Pakistan opened their campaign with a 9-0 victory over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1.

The Green Shirts will face Malaysia in their next match on Saturday at the same venue. The clash could prove important in determining the final Pool B standings ahead of the knockout stage.
