RAWALPINDI: Participants of a painting competition on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the victims of the Jaffar Express train attack, lauding the law enforcement agencies for rescuing the hostages.
Emerging artists condemned the attack orchestrated by the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
The exhibition, held at the Rawalpindi Women’s University, received an overwhelming response, as per the organisers.
Twenty-six students competed, each using their art to promote peace and unity and condemn terrorism. The event highlighted the power of creativity in standing against violence and remembering those affected.
Stance against terrorism
The university youth came together to reflect, express, and reaffirm their stance against terrorism.
Previously, a special walk was organised on the campus to express solidarity with the victims of the Jafar Express train attack.
Vice Chancellor Professor Anila Kamal, faculty members, students and the university administration participated in the walk.
The participants were holding banners and placards in their hands with slogans of peace and unity.
Vice Chancellor Dr Anila Kamal, while addressing the walk, said that the loss of innocent lives is irreparable.
Peaceful nation
“My heartfelt sympathies are with the families of the martyrs. We have to unite and continue our efforts for peace and stability”, she added.
Dr Anila strongly condemned terrorist attacks, saying that Pakistanis are a peaceful nation and we will not tolerate terrorism on their soil under any circumstances.
Senior faculty members participating in the walk said that we have to teach our new generation about peace, brotherhood and tolerance so that the roots of terrorism can be eradicated forever.
