LAHORE: United States Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, attended the orientation ceremony for the US EnglishWorks program in Sialkot, welcoming 150 new students. This initiative aims to enhance youth skills in the English language, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
US Consul General to Lahore, Kristin Hawkins, joined the ambassador for the event.
In his address to the students, Ambassador Blome stated, “These skills will empower young Pakistanis to become community leaders who contribute to a prosperous, proud, and peaceful future for Pakistan.”
He said that the EnglishWorks program represents the enduring partnership between the US and Pakistan, noting that since 2015, over 6,000 Pakistani students have graduated from the initiative. He expressed optimism about expanding educational initiatives throughout Pakistan.
During his visit to Lahore, Ambassador Blome also met with members of the Central Punjab Chapter of the Pakistan-US Alumni Network.
He highlighted the significant roles that alumni of US exchange programs play in business, education, government, and the non-profit sector, contributing to their communities with the knowledge and connections gained through US-funded initiatives and strengthening the US-Pakistan relationship.
