BANNU: Police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and security forces carried out a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) against terrorists in Bannu, killing one terrorist and arresting 10 others.
According to security officials, the operation was conducted in the Mariyan area of Bannu and extended to Khanikhel, Barkzai and adjoining areas following intelligence regarding the presence and suspected activities of terrorist elements.
An exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the death of one terrorist. Ten other suspects were taken into custody for questioning and further investigation.
According to officials, a Kalashnikov, three magazines and a bandolier were recovered from the killed terrorist. Security personnel also seized two rifles, two pistols and an automatic gun from the arrested terrorists.
Officials said the operation was aimed at disrupting suspected terrorist plans before they could be carried out and maintaining security in the area.
The coordinated action highlights the importance of intelligence sharing and close cooperation among law enforcement and security agencies in countering terrorism.
The participation of the CTD, police and security forces reflects an integrated approach aimed at identifying terrorist networks and preventing potential attacks. Authorities have reiterated that terrorism remains a serious threat to human life, development and social stability.
