OIC Head Disappointed Over Afghan Females’ Ban from University Entrance Exams

JEDDAH: The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday expressed disappointment over the decision of the de facto administration in Afghanistan to ban female students from taking university entrance exams in all public and private universities in the country.

In a press statement, the OIC General Secretariat asked the de facto authorities in Afghanistan to rethink the latest and earlier decision regarding ban on female education in the country.

The recent ban was announced by the de facto Afghan authorities following the OIC Executive Committee convened an Extraordinary meeting on the “Recent Developments and the Humanitarian Situation in Afghanistan” on 11 January 2023.

The joint statement of the meeting called on the de facto Afghan authorities to reopen universities and schools for girls and allow them to enroll in all levels of education required by the Afghan people.
