OIC Chief, Burkina Faso Foreign Minister Discuss Ties, Important Issues

JEDDAH: OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso Olivia Ragnaghnewendé Rouamba on Wednesday on the sidelines of the International Conference on “Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment,” held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 6 to 8 November.

The two sides discussed bilateral ties between the OIC and Burkina Faso and the prospects for further cooperation. They also reviewed the efforts exerted by the Burkina Faso government to combat terrorism, promote security and stability, and expedite development in the country.

The Secretary-General appreciated Burkina Faso’s efforts to solve the problems of women and youth within the framework of the OIC and its contributions to strengthening joint Islamic action.

Olivia Extends Gratitude to OIC

For her part, Minister Olivia conveyed her gratitude to the Secretary-General for the OIC’s continued support for her country and lauded the group’s efforts to promote peace, stability, and development in the Sahel region, as well as to consolidate the principles of Islamic solidarity among member countries.
