ISLAMABAD: Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide will arrive in Pakistan on Thursday for a two-day official visit, marking the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister to the South Asian country in a decade.
Foreign Minister Eide is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and will remain in Islamabad from August 13 to 14.
During the visit, Ishaq Dar and the Norwegian foreign minister will lead delegation-level talks covering the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations, with particular focus on expanding cooperation in trade and investment, climate change, renewable energy, education and people-to-people contacts.
The two sides will also exchange views on key regional and international developments, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit comes amid sustained high-level engagement between Islamabad and Oslo.
The two foreign ministers held telephone conversations in March and April this year, while Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik visited Islamabad in May 2026.
The Norwegian foreign minister’s visit is expected to provide fresh impetus to the longstanding and cordial bilateral relationship and open new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
