ISLAMABAD: Norway reiterates support for Pakistan’s constructive role and its ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the Iran-US conflict.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Norway, Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar here in Islamabad on Monday, a Foreign Office statement said.

The two sides held discussions on the evolving regional situation. “DPM/FM underscored Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote engagement and dialogue for peace and stability in the region and beyond,” the Foreign Office said.

Kravik, during the meeting, reiterated Oslo’s support for Islamabad’s constructive role and its ongoing efforts toward a peaceful and durable resolution of the conflict.

The two leaders also explored ways to further strengthen bilateral ties and strengthen engagement across diverse sectors of mutual interest.

Kravik conveyed an invitation from the Norwegian Foreign Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister to attend the Oslo Forum scheduled for next month.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination on bilateral matters, as well as on issues related to peace, stability, and development.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar announced that 22 crew members from the seized Iranian container vessel MV Touska have been safely evacuated to Pakistan, in what officials describe as a confidence-building measure involving the United States.

In a post on X, Ishaq Dar said the evacuation was carried out smoothly and in coordination with relevant stakeholders, expressing satisfaction over the safe transfer of the 22 crew members.

The move is being seen as part of broader diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan playing a coordinating role between the two sides.
