YANGGANG: Ministry of State Security announcement slashing food rations to regional security bureaus by one-third, the Yanggang Province branch of the Ministry recently convened to address logistical challenges and ensure self-sufficiency.
An anonymous source from the province revealed that officials convened a meeting to strategize on enhancing logistical self-reliance, focusing on utilizing bureau-owned farmland, securing funds for seeds, and mobilizing personnel for agricultural activities.
The decision to cut regular food rations to security agencies, operating directly under North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, underscores the severity of the country’s food crisis.
The meeting emphasized the urgent need to cultivate spring potatoes on bureau-owned farmland, with directives issued to guard fields round-the-clock against theft and wildlife intrusion. Measures such as installing 220-volt wires were implemented to bolster field security.
Senior officials were tasked with acquiring seeds, while each department was allocated farmland for cultivation in alignment with the reduced rations.
Notably, the ration cuts affect regional security organs at the provincial level and below, while the Ministry of State Security’s national-level rations remain unaffected.
The move highlights the regime’s efforts to grapple with food scarcity by prioritizing internal security and promoting self-sufficiency measures at the grassroots level.
