SEOUL: North Korea has strongly condemned on Saturday a revised nuclear strategic plan approved by US President Joe Biden, local media reported.

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said, “The DPRK will as ever bolster up its strategic strength in every mean in order to overcome and eradicate all sorts of security threats that may result from Washington’s dangerous nuclear posture readjustment, and decisively counter any type of nuclear threat,”.

State media KCNA reported that other sovereign states’ efforts for bolstering up their defence abilities to cope with the ever-increasing nuclear challenge from the US can never be a pretext for its nuclear arms buildup for aggression and inflammatory coordination of nuclear posture.

It added no matter how desperately the United States may exaggerate the ‘nuclear threat’ from other nations, North Korea will push forward the building of nuclear force sufficient and reliable enough to resolutely defend the sovereignty and security interests of the country on its fixed schedule.

Earlier on Tuesday, the White House said the classified nuclear strategic plan is not a reply to a single country or challenge, following the New York Times reported it reoriented the deterrence strategy to focus on Beijing’s expansion of its nuclear arsenal for the first time.

In a statement, China’s foreign ministry said it is seriously concerned regarding the report, which said the plan seeks to prepare Washington for possible coordinated nuclear challenges from China, North Korea and Russia.
