Tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban over terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan will be among the main issues discussed at this year’s Moscow Format meeting.
Special representatives and senior officials from Afghanistan, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will attend the meeting. Russia has also invited delegations from Belarus and Egypt as guests, according to Afghanistan International.
Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Taliban regime to avoid providing safe havens to terrorist groups on Afghan territory. These terrorist groups are involved in attacks inside Pakistan.
Mohammad Sadiq has also criticised the Taliban regime’s policies towards terrorist groups during recent remarks in Islamabad, saying the presence of terrorist organisations on Afghan territory cannot be ignored.
