KYIV: Russian drones bore down on Kyiv early on Friday, with Mayor Vitali Klitschko and other officials reporting attacks on widely residential districts.
AFP reported that it was the 6th drone assault on Kyiv this month. As per media reports at least two persons were wounded in the mass drone strike.
According Klitschko a drone strike had hit a block of flats in the Solomyanskyi district, triggering a fire. Two people were wounded, including one being treated in a nearby hospital.
Mass Drone Strike Hits Kyiv
The city’s Mayor said that emergency and rescue crews have rushed to the site to take part in rescue operation. A video shared on different social media sites showed a giant orange blaze going in the night.
Klitschko said drone had set fire to a home under construction in Darnytskyi district on the eastern bank of the river Dnipro. However, he said that no one was hurt in the strike. Images posted social media showed construction materials strewn about the spot.
Serhiy Popko, chief of Kyiv’s military authority, reported wreckages from a downed drone had hit an apartment compound in a third area — Holosiivskyi district — also south of Kyiv center. Popko posted images showing shattered windows and substantial damage to apartments in the city.
